CBD Golden Milk Mix: Deep Dive

🌻The lure of a warm cup of golden milk is three fold for me. First, it’s a beautiful warm color, happy and bright; second, I can sip it right before bed and drift off into a peaceful slumber; and while I love the taste too, I love the fact that it’s healthy and nutritious for my body the most. Golden Milk contains the all-powerful (and bright orange) root turmeric. Turmeric is lauded for its ability to bring down inflammation, boost the immune system and possibly even fight cancer (the same amazing potential health benefits that CBD is known for). So, naturally, our CBD Golden Milk Mix is a perfect match, a double boost for your health and immunity. 

🌻Golden Milk has its origins centuries ago in India as a health drink called haldi doodh meant to help improve immunity and sleep. It  is used in Ayurvedic medicine to help with insomnia, coughs and colds. This most recent revival in our current culture reached its apex in 2016 and now you can find Golden Milk all over. While it has become a bit of a hipster beverage, it is also delicious and so good for you.

🌻The active ingredient in turmeric is curcumin, that along with a little black pepper and some fat, helps your body absorb it (similar again to CBD which needs fat to help your body absorb it). Curcumin is an antioxidant stronger than vitamin e, which also improves the action of the liver, and works to reduce chronic pain and inflammation. Curcumin works in two ways: blocking free radicals and also stimulating the body’s own antioxidant defenses. Our Golden Milk Mix also contains cinnamon which is antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, and ginger which improves digestion and reduces nausea and pain. 

🌻The classic prep of our CBD Golden Milk Mix is to combine it with warm milk and honey.
