New to CBD? How much should I take? This is one of the most commonly asked questions we get.
CBD dosage is not a one size fits all but unique to the individual. Weight, metabolism and the symptoms you are treating can all affect how much you will need.
That’s why we suggest to everyone (and to every pet) to start low and slow, to awaken your endocannabinoid system and build up to just the right amount that you need. While CBD is non-habit forming, and it hasn’t been shown that you can take too much (the most common side effect of too much CBD is sleepiness), there is also no reason to take more than you need.
In general, we suggest starting with 2-3 drops, 2-3 times per day and gradually increase until you experience a relief in your symptoms. A very general dose is 15/30 mg a day, but your individual dose could be more or less, so we really stress, listen to your body!
Keeping a dosing journal (soon to be available on the website!) can be a very helpful way to monitor how much you're taking and the affects you feel. While CBD can work for some people immediately, for others, it can take up to four weeks of consistent use to feel the full effects.
Other helpful tips include keeping your bottle somewhere cool and dark to best preserve its potency (although it lasts longer than you would think), and ALWAYS shake your bottle before use. Some natural separation can occur, so it’s important to shake before each use, to ensure even dosing.
Once you know how much CBD works for you every day, you can consistently take that amount regardless of the bottle strength. Here’s how to figure out how much you are taking: take the total mg of CBD in the bottle and divide that by the total ml of the bottle. So - a 1000 mg bottle of CBD divided by 30 ml’s= 33.3 mg of CBD per ml (which happens to be about 1 dropper full).
