Organic Marshmallow Root is a mildly sweet, earthy bulk herb with a soft, slightly woody flavor and aroma. The root comes from Althaea officinalis, an herbaceous perennial traditionally grown in damp areas and cultivated throughout Europe.

Marshmallow root has a long history of use in teas, syrups, lozenges, infused oils, ointments, and skincare preparations. Its naturally mucilaginous texture makes it especially distinctive when steeped in water.

How to Prepare as Tea:
Use approximately 1 teaspoon of marshmallow root per 8 oz of water. For a traditional hot infusion, steep covered for 10–15 minutes and strain.

Cold Infusion Method:
For a smoother, more mucilaginous preparation, add marshmallow root to cool or room-temperature water and allow it to steep for several hours or overnight, then strain.

Blending Tip:
Marshmallow root pairs well with mullein, licorice root, slippery elm, peppermint, chamomile, lemon balm, ginger, fennel, and cinnamon.
