Why We Made This Kit
If you spend time outside, especially in wooded areas, tall grass, gardens, trails, campsites, farms, or even your own backyard, tick checks matter. Ticks can attach quickly and may be easy to miss, especially on kids, pets, hairlines, waistbands, behind the knees, under arms, and around ankles.
Having the right supplies on hand helps you remove the tick properly instead of squeezing, burning, twisting incorrectly, or using random household items in a panic. This kit keeps everything together so you can remove the tick, clean the area, cover the bite if needed, label and save the tick, and monitor the bite site afterward.
How to Use
Each kit includes an instruction card with clear steps for safe tick removal and bite care. In general, remove the entire tick as soon as possible using tweezers or a tick removal tool, clean the area, save the tick in a labeled bag if desired, and monitor the bite area and overall wellness in the days and weeks afterward.
If a rash develops, symptoms begin, or you feel unwell after a tick bite, please contact a healthcare professional. Symptoms may include fever, chills, fatigue, headache, muscle aches, joint pain, swollen lymph nodes, or a spreading rash. This kit is for preparedness and first-aid support only and is not a replacement for medical care.
Tick Testing Option
For extra peace of mind, you can save the tick in one of the included labeled bags and send it off for testing through Ticknology.org. Their testing is listed at $40 currently.
Ticknology currently tests for pathogens associated with several tick-borne illnesses, including Lyme disease, relapsing fever, babesiosis, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, tularemia, and more.
Optional Add-Ons
Customize your kit with optional add-ons for extra outdoor, immune, and tick-season support.
- Immune Boost 1 oz + Ledum 300C, 80 tablets: $22
- This add-on is a great option for extra immune support during tick season. Immune Boost is made with organic elderberry, rosehips, astragalus, ginger, oregano, and chamomile in a gentle glycerin base. These herbs are traditionally used to support the body’s natural immune defenses, antioxidant intake, and overall resilience when your system needs a little extra backup.
- Ledum 300C is a homeopathic remedy traditionally used for insect bites, stings, and minor puncture-type wounds. In homeopathic literature, Ledum palustre is commonly associated with bite and sting support, especially when the area feels better with cool applications. Homeopathic products are based on traditional homeopathic use and are not intended to replace medical care, testing, or treatment for tick-borne illness.
- Astragalus Tincture by Abeca, 2 oz: $26
- Astragalus is a classic immune-support herb often used to support long-term resilience, especially during times of increased outdoor exposure, seasonal stress, or when the body needs extra nourishment. Recommended by many natural practitioners for after-tick support.
- Tick Roller w/ CBD + 4 oz Tick Repellant Spray: $15
- This add-on is for prevention-focused outdoor support. The Tick Roller and Tick Repellant Spray are designed to be used before heading outside to help discourage ticks and other outdoor pests from wanting to hang around in the first place. It’s a great companion to the kit for hiking, camping, gardening, yard work, sports, farm chores, and everyday outdoor play.
Tick Repellant Spray Ingredients: Reverse Osmosis Water, Vinegar, Organic Coconut Glycerin, Vanilla Oleoresin, Organic Cedarwood Oil, Geranium Oil, Organic Citronella Oil, Organic Peppermint Oil, Organic Lemongrass Oil, Organic Rosemary Oil.
Please Note: Tick Repellant Spray add-on is pet-safe when used as directed. Avoid spraying near eyes, nose, mouth, or sensitive areas. Re-apply before outside exposure.
Storage Notes
The waterproof zipper bag is portable and easy to keep in your medicine cabinet, hiking backpack, camping gear, or day-trip bag. You may keep it in your car while traveling or heading outdoors, but we do not recommend storing it in a hot vehicle long-term because the Black Drawing Salve Stick may soften or melt in high heat.
If your salve softens during shipping or travel, place it upright in a cool room or refrigerator until it firms back up. This does not ruin the product.
Safe for All Ages
This kit is designed to be family-friendly and safe for all ages when used as directed. Children should have tick removal, swab use, and topical application done by an adult. For babies, young children, sensitive skin, deep bites, unusual reactions, or any concerning symptoms, please contact a healthcare professional.
Precautions
For external use only unless otherwise noted on individual product labels. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes. Do not use iodine swabs if you have a known iodine allergy. Discontinue use if irritation occurs. Keep out of reach of children when not in use.
This kit is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Tick-borne illness can be serious. If you develop a rash, fever, flu-like symptoms, fatigue, headache, muscle or joint pain, swollen lymph nodes, or any other concerning symptoms after a tick bite, seek medical care promptly.
